The Ontario government has awarded the first major package of civil and utility work for the Hamilton Light Rail Transit (LRT), marking an important step forward toward construction.
This phase includes utility relocations, road reconstruction, upgraded sidewalks, traffic control systems, and design work for key infrastructure improvements along the LRT route. Once complete, the Hamilton LRT is expected to support approximately 50,000 daily riders while improving access to jobs, housing, and local amenities across the city.
This milestone highlights Hamilton’s continued growth and strengthens the city’s long-term transit connectivity.
